Our Teachers

At Blue Skies Exploration Academy, it’s our teachers who truly make your child’s day the best it can be.

We asked each of them a few questions, such as “What is your favorite thing about being on the Blue Skies team?”, “What makes your classroom special?”, and “How do you want to be remembered by your students and their families?”. Reading their answers will help you learn more about each one of them!

Michelle Duggan
Michelle Duggan has worked with children from ages 6 weeks to 10 years for over 20 years. She attended West Valley College in California and Pikes Peak Community College and is credentialed as a Child Development Associate.
“The home-like feeling in each classroom. Another favorite thing is the loving and nurturing staff that is very supportive of each other.”
“We are a community with an emphasis on building strong relationships with those close to us and the world around us.”
“I want to be remembered as a nurturing and fun person in the lives of children during their preschool years. I would also like to be remembered as a partner with their parents who helped teach their children the skills and values necessary for success in school and in life.”

Pamela Murphy
Pamela Murphy started working in early childhood education at the age of 16. Her experience includes in-home childcare, and she has worked in four different large centers with children ages 6 week to 12 years of age. Pamela attended Pikes Peak Community and is certified as an Infant/Toddler Supervisor
“I love that I have the ability to be creative with setting up my classroom, and that I can use the classroom setting to meet the needs of my students. I appreciate that I am able to tailor my curriculum to what they want to learn rather than being locked into a rigid curriculum.”
“I strive to care for my students as though they were my own children. In my classroom, the focus is on the needs of my students, and I want them to help guide their learning.”
“I would like for families to remember me as someone who truly cared for them and the needs of their children. I would like for my students to remember that they were loved and well cared for and had fun learning.”

Heather LaFave
Teacher and Nutrition Specialist
Heather has worked in early childhood education settings for almost 20 years, and she is credentialed as a Child Development Associate.
“I love the learning experience and the Reggio Style. Blue Skies is a wonderful place not only to work but also to have my own two children. They are well cared for and are learning so much.”
“I get to teach in many of the center’s classrooms, and I love being able to see all of the varied and creative learning occurring in each one.”
“I would like for them to remember me as a loving, caring person who was very passionate about the developmental needs of children.”

Liese Strupp
Art Teacher
Liese Strupp earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and went on to study Early Childhood Education at William Patterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. She has worked in multi-aged classrooms, family childcare, a teaching center, and a Montessori center. She has over 20 years’ experience in early childhood education. Liese works with children of many ages in our dedicated art studio.
“Working with the classroom teachers to generate ideas about what interests the children. We collaborate on many levels to inspire art projects that are fun.”
“The studio is a place where children come to explore art and express themselves. From visual arts, to drama, to dance, it is a creative space.”
“I want for children and their families to remember that I heard them and helped them to be their best. I would like for them to remember that they had fun with me and felt as though they were respected and loved.”

Brittany Holmes
Brittany has an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education and is certified as an Infant/Toddler Supervisor. She has over 12 years of experience working with children in both preschool and camp settings.
“We really get to dive deeply into the interests of the children rather than skimming over them. I love getting to know the children and families and being a part of their learning experience.”
“I try very hard to individualize my curriculum based on the needs and interests of the children. This leads to a very diverse classroom and offers many choices and opportunities to learn and ask questions.”
“I would like for children and families to look back and think of fun times and happy experiences.
